Originaria del Borneo dove è stata scoperta nel 2014, è stata a lungo erroneamente chiamata Begonia phuthoensis. Forma un rizoma sotterraneo da cui si elevano gli steli con le foglie verde scuro, peltate di grande effetto anche per la particolare goffratura che le contraddistingue. I fiori sono piccoli, bianchi.
